One-of-a-Kind Handcrafted Blue Feather Serving Bowl
A striking combination of rich color, natural inspiration, and handcrafted artistry.
This beautiful one-of-a-kind ceramic serving bowl by Long Island artist Jan Barrett features a deep, luminous blue glaze with wonderful variations ranging from brilliant ocean blue to darker, almost midnight tones. The natural movement and variation within the glaze give the piece remarkable depth and ensure that it is truly unique.
At the center of the bowl is a distinctive hand-decorated feather and arrow design, arranged in a circular pattern and finished in warm earthy brown and copper tones. The contrast of these warm colors against the rich blue background creates a dramatic and eye-catching design.
Two individually formed open handles extend gracefully from the sides of the bowl, making the piece both beautiful and functional. The warm reddish-brown glaze on the handles complements the feather motif and provides a striking contrast to the blue body.
The bowl is elevated on hand-formed decorative feet, giving it an attractive profile when viewed from the side and adding another artistic detail to the overall design. Turn the piece over and you'll find Jan Barrett's artist mark, identifying it as an original handcrafted creation.
Every element—from the shaping of the clay and formation of the handles and feet to the decorative details, glazing, and firing—has been completed by hand. Natural variations in the glaze, texture, color, and form are part of the beauty of handmade ceramics.
No two pieces are exactly alike. This is a true one-of-a-kind Jan Barrett original.
